For the Love of Earth
Did you know that the fashion industry produces 150 billion items per year and roughly 87% of those garments end up in a landfill? Fast fashion is an ever-increasing problem that not only exploits workers (who receive less than minimum wage in many cases), but also Mother Earth—utilizing her resources, polluting the air, and emitting greenhouse gasses, among many other things. Here’s our thought: what’s better than dressing your best while also reducing your carbon footprint? (Hint: nothing!)
If there’s one thing you need to know about Queens Exchange, it’s that we are lovers of Mama Earth—that’s one of the main reasons why we are in the business of sustainable fashion, which aims to change how garments are acquired, produced, distributed, made, and consumed. One phrase we use passionately here is “extend the life of clothing by any means necessary.” For some that may be consigning their clothes so that another person can love and cherish an item. For others that may mean taking reusable pieces and creating art and new one of a kind garments. There are so many options to extend the life of clothes and there is so much beauty in sustainable fashion and expression.
With Earth Day 2024 fast approaching, we knew it was time to do something BIG that involved games, raffles, local creatives and artists, our community, and more. Thus, Queens Exchange and ERICCOSTUDIO proudly present to you A Celebration of Earth Day, which includes a sip & shop, succulent workshop, and runway show.
